Leadership in Architectural Education —
Passion of Life
Across my roles in graduate architectural education, I cultivate learning environments that foreground innovation, inclusivity, and critical inquiry. My leadership emphasizes mentorship, curricular evolution, and the thoughtful integration of emerging technologies -bridging pedagogy, andragogy and heutagogy as well as research, and practice to prepare future architects for the cultural, ethical, and technological realities of the built environment.
Selected Former Academic Leadership Roles:
Director of Architecture Programs
Director of Graduate School and PhD Program
Deputy Marketing of Architecture School
Director of Multiple Fabrication and Innovation Labs
Academic Leadership Vision:
"Every endeavor of our time must be conscious of nature and environment, context and community, people and equity, information and technology, as well as machines and virtuality. These are the pillars We stand at a moment of historic awareness- rediscovering our responsibilities as one species among many. Our métier is no exception.”

A Strategic Agenda for Leadership in Architecture Education:
Architecture education in the United States is undergoing a structural transformation driven by technological acceleration, shifting federal and state policy frameworks, evolving licensure pathways, enrollment volatility, and changing expectations of public higher education. This moment demands leadership that is not incremental, but strategic, anticipatory, and institutionally responsible.

1. Strengthening Academic Quality
Academic excellence must be redefined to reflect contemporary realities of practice, research, and regulation. I will advance a curriculum that integrates design excellence with AI, computation, digital fabrication, environmental performance, codes, and professional standards. Studios will be paired with evidence-based methodologies, interdisciplinary collaboration, and licensure-responsive competencies. Academic rigor will be maintained while ensuring relevance to emerging professional and societal demands.

2. Enhancing Student Experience and Support
Student success today requires more than design talent; it requires adaptability, resilience, and career viability. I will prioritize equitable access to resources, clear pathways to licensure and employment, and flexible program models responsive to financial and policy pressures. Studio culture will be recalibrated to support high expectations without burnout, fostering a learning environment that values wellbeing, mentorship, and professional preparedness.

3. Strengthening Faculty Development
Faculty are the intellectual and cultural foundation of the school. I will support continuous faculty development in emerging technologies, funded research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative pedagogy. Evaluation and workload models will recognize excellence across teaching, research, creative practice, and service. Strategic hiring will prioritize faculty who bridge design, technology, research, and professional engagement.

4. Expanding Industry Partnerships and Research
Architecture programs must be embedded within the real economy and public sphere. I will expand partnerships with industry, public agencies, and community organizations to support applied research, sponsored studios, and grant-funded initiatives aligned with national priorities such as climate resilience, infrastructure, housing, and AI-enabled design. Research and fabrication infrastructure will be positioned as engines of innovation, not support services.

5. Improving Program Visibility and Recruitment
Sustainable programs require clear identity and public relevance. I will lead a strategic narrative that communicates the school’s academic rigor, research impact, technological leadership, and student outcomes. Recruitment efforts will be targeted, inclusive, and aligned with evolving student demographics and professional trajectories. Transparency, clarity, and purpose will guide all external engagement.

Leadership Commitment
My approach to leadership is collaborative, data-informed, and mission-driven. I am committed to aligning academic ambition with institutional sustainability, navigating policy and funding shifts with clarity, and ensuring that architecture education remains a public good; relevant, rigorous, and forward-looking.
